PREPARATIONS FOR A JOURNEY - FIFI PROJECTS
Preparations for a Journey aims to serve as a statement on the actual state of abstract painting. Breaking from the formal doctrine of formalist abstraction, the work in the exhibition questions the theoretical underpinnings of the practice as a discipline that promotes the idea that artists should adhere to a specific routine and principle.
The work challenges preconceived notions by combining manual and mechanized means of production resulting in a subtle new language in modern painting.
Exhibiting artists: Elvire Bonduelle, Manor Grunewald, Peter Mohall, Steve Nishimoto, Struan Teague, Matthew Feyld, Pedro Matos, Alessandro Moroder, Jay Paavonpera, Wolfgang Voegele.
